Aberdyfi Beach sits where the Welsh mountains meet the sea, at the mouth of the Dyfi Estuary in the pretty harbour village of Aberdyfi (Aberdovey). Backed by sand dunes and the Aberdovey Golf Club, it's a genuinely striking spot with views across the estuary towards Ynyslas and the Cambrian Mountains. Sailing and windsurfing are popular here, and Aberdyfi hosts yachting regattas through the summer — though swimmers should take care, as the outflow from the Dyfi creates strong currents, and there's no lifeguard service. Dogs are welcome on the beach all year round, with the only restriction being the section directly in front of the main car park between 1 April and 30 September; head a little further along and it's dog-friendly the whole year. A large pay-and-display car park sits next to the tourist information centre, with direct beach access via a ramp or short flight of steps, and the village itself has plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants along Terrace Road. Aberdyfi also has its own railway station on the Cambrian Coast Line, a short walk from the beach — so it's easy to visit by train as well as car, and pairs perfectly with a wander along the harbour and out to the famous bell buoy at the pier.
